In an alternate universe, Ryan's Hope did not go off the air in January 1989 (see Ryan's Hope - March 16, 1991 for more info). The series expanded to an hour on January 16, 1989, with James E. Reilly taking over as executive producer on the same day. One month later, Reilly fired RH creator/current head writer Claire Labine, who had returned as scribe in February 1987. Actress Megan McTavish, who had honed her writing chops on All My Children, was picked by Reilly to replace Ms. Labine. This is a meeting that took place between Reilly and McTavish behind the scenes at ABC Television Center in New York on April 18, 1989. Part 2.
