Bart Plantenga: http://www.bartplantenga.com In December 2006 the Jimmy Kimmel Live show contacted Mike to participate in a comedy spoof of VH-1's "Search for the next great White Rapper" using Black Yodelers. Mike declined, not wanting to demean his craft, but recommended his friend Joe Country. The Show then changed their format to a "Search For America's Greatest Black Yodeler" and this segment was put together along with a half dozen of Mike's yodel performances and sent to the Kimmel Show to inform them that their "Greatest Black Yodeler" title was infringling on Mike's well established, long standing position. Mike yodeling on YouTube: Mike Johnson's "Wild Horse Yodel," "Coyote Yodel," and "T-Shirt Yodel." He has written more yodeling songs than anyone, and 114 of them are in the Recorded Sound Reference Center's permanent music preservation collection at the Library of Congress. Mike Johnson was inducted into America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame by the National Traditional Country Music Association in September 2002.
