Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce Honors Local Businesses, Community Organizations at 2009 Business of the Year Awards Two local companies and two community service organizations were among those honored at the 20th Annual Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards at the Nicholas J. Pirro Onondaga County Convention Center at Oncenter Thursday evening, March 12. New York State Governor David Paterson was the evenings special guest and addressed the crowd of approximately 750 people from the business community. New this year, the Chamber premiered a video presentation that highlights video of Syracuses past, present and future. It was produced in partnership with by the Onondaga Historical Association and Visual Technologies Corporation. Following his address, awards were presented to Central New York companies and organizations that have excelled in the following criteria: growth, staying power, workplace innovation, and commitment to community. Finalists for Business of the Year for a company or organization with more than 50 employees were Sensis Corp [view video] and SRCTec, Inc. [view video]. The honor went to SRCTec, Inc.. Natur-Tyme, Inc. [view video] and C. R. Fletcher Associates, Inc. [view video] were vying for the award for a company with fewer than 50 employees. The award was presented to Natur-Tyme, Inc. A third award for Community Involvement went to SRC/SRCTec [view video]. Franciscan Management Services [view video] was the runner up in this category. The Non-Profit Business of the Year award was presented to Arc of Onondaga [view video]. Meals on Wheels [view video] of Syracuse, NY was the runner up in that category. Local radio show host, Jim Reith from 570 WSYR, broadcast his show live from the Oncenter Thursday. Doug Logan was Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The Annual Dinner is a chance to recognize Chamber members, look back at accomplishments during the past year and look ahead with renewed commitment and optimism for the coming year. The Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce is the largest business membership organization in Central New York with nearly 2100 member organizations employing more that 140,000 individuals.
