From 1955, it's no fairy tale that Mr. Sinatra was at his vocal peak when he recorded this simple yet simply beautiful song. Sinatra's years at Capitol Records (1953-1961) arguably produced his best work; vocally and artistically. His recordings comprised the landmark "concept" albums and radio play singles (45s). Sinatra closely managed each and every detail of the famous albums (In The Wee Small Hours, Only the Lonely, Songs for Swingin Lovers, et al) but for the great part, the single material was chosen for him. Sinatra's handpicked Capitol work remains essential while many of the singles remain mostly unheard (they lack the depth of the album tracks due to their short-play, commercial design; plus, they now typically are only found of multiple disc complication sets). Regardless of the song Sinatra sang he always maintained his artistic integrity--and sincerity; and that can be clearly heard as he gently caresses "Fairy Tale," which is a single he personally selected... (Oh, my favorite fairy tale did become reality before its illusion turned to an abject nightmare. Still, it was marvelous and divine while she was mine...) Fairy tale, my favorite fairy tale Is the one I live with wonderful you Life is so grand, a fabulous fairyland And we walk it hand in hand as lovers do Fantasy became a reality With your tender kiss you open the door You are marvelous, divine Aladdin's lamp did shine The magic day that you were mine Fairy tale, our love is a fairy tale And it never has been told before
