This afternoon, I spoke on the House floor in support of a bill I introduced, H.R. 347, to award a Congressional Gold Medal to the Go For Broke regiments, made up of Japanese-Americans who fought valiantly for the U.S. in WWII. The Go For Broke regiments were among the most decorated units of the entire war, and they served at a time when their families and loved ones were being forced into internment camps due to their Japanese heritage. The Congressional Gold Medal is an honor rarely bestowed, but deeply deserved by these brave men who fought and sacrificed for their nation. The final vote on the measure was postponed until tomorrow, but I expect it will pass easily. From there, it will have to be passed by the Senate before it can be signed into law.
