Ponty win not enough to go top Oct 18 2009 Wales On Sunday PONTYPRIDD gained a hard-earned win over Glamorgan Wanderers but it failed to keep them top of the Welsh Premiership. Former champions Neath now lead the way on try-count ahead of Pontypridd, who were thankful Wanderers proved charitable hosts. Scott Sneddon missed three penalties, while centre Charlie Johnson knocked on with the try-line at his mercy. But Ponty, who trailed 3-0 at the break, showed a marked improvement after fly-half Aaron Bramwell got them on the scoreboard via a 51st-minute penalty. Replacement lock Chris Martenko had only been on three minutes when he got a key try on the hour. And when wing Chris Clayton touched down in the 66th minute it looked as if Ponty might be on the way to a bonus point. But Wanderers battened down the hatches to pick up a bonus point on the back of Sneddons boot.
