From the May 15, 2008, TMU concert in the Brown Theatre. This is the fourth movement of The Music of Bharam Chak, a work for percussion theatre by Chris Mayer. This video shows the performance of the music recorded live in concert, with the scripted narration and images that were projected on the screen above the ensemble. The lighting on this video is less than optimal to say the least. The staging and costume elements are not clearly seen. The ensemble members are wearing black robes and custom-made masks, depicting the deities and elementals of the Bharam Chak mythos. Martial Music tells the story of the darkest chapter in the history of Bharam Chak, an era known as the Multiplication of the Spears. The warrior caste first sought to assert their power, then the various warrior houses fell upon each other. The images seen here are from petroglyphs made by the sole survivor of the last battle, driven mad by the carnage.
