September 2009, Beijing, China: Continuing its leadership in the top-luxury segment for over 50 years, Mercedes-Benz introduced the new S-Class series in China. The worlds most successful luxury vehicle features numerous innovative improvements in the areas of comfort, drive engineering, and state-of-the-art technology for enhanced safety all important qualities which reinforce the current market trends and the vehicles emergence as a status symbol in China. Now in its ninth generation, the current S-Class has sold over 270,000 units, tallying the total for the entire S-Class lineage to an unprecedented total of 3.3 million cars worldwide. During the first quarter of 2009, China has confirmed its position as the worlds leading market for luxury class automobiles. With more than 11,000 vehicles, Mercedes has achieved a 30% sales growth. In March 2009, the increase was as much as 50% percent compared with the same month last year making it the best month ever for Mercedes-Benz in China. Mercedes-Benzs flagship S-Class is always equipped with the automakers latest and most advanced technology. Among the most recent innovations is Mercedes-Benz newly developed SPLITVIEW technology which affords drivers and occupants the opportunity to simultaneously view navigation information and entertainment programs such as movies on the same screen without interference, thereby enhancing entertainment value without weakening driving safety. Among the many features include Active Body Control with Crosswind Stabilization an active suspension technology that significantly increases in-car stability by reducing the effects of crosswinds. The new generation S-Class also arrives with the highest global standard safety innovations such as Night View Assist Plus with pedestrian detection, ATTENTION ASSIST, and Adaptive Highbeam Assist- all of which position the S-Class to be the safest care in the top-luxury segment. The venue of the official ceremony could not have been more spectacular. It was staged in a part of the Forbidden City with hundreds of invited guest.
