This is a "kinda sorta" how-to video with me demonstrating (or trying to at least) the method for weaving a CHamoru katupat (traditional rice basket). A katupat is basically a single coconut leaf that has the midrib removed and the two portions of the leaf are woven onto themselves, interlocking to form a container. There is only one name for these rice containers in CHamoru (That I know of) and there are several different shapes that are made. Katupat can be found from South Asia (Thailand,Laos) to the Pacific, Guam, Philippines, Indonesia etc. Very ingenius way of transporting rice IMO.
