(Kay) "Uh...lunch is only 30 minutes" I said glancing down at my lunch "Sorry I didn't mean to pry or-" "No its just a long story" I said picking up my sandwhich as I glanced around the cafeteria. Things were definataly different here. It seemed like every clique kept to themselves not bothering to even look at anyone who wasn't in there clique, there was one postive thing about this school...there was no Katy but than again there was no Joe... "So uh this school has this whole stupid buddy kind of thing where they assign a student who's been here to a new or transfer student to kind of help them out, I always thought it was pretty stupid until now" Chris said causing me to look at him, he was sitting across from me and I smiled a little. "So your my "buddy" I said doing air qoutes with my fingers around Buddy something I had picked up hanging around the Jonas boys. "yeah I'm your "buddy"" he said doing air qoutes around buddy as well "Anyway everyone here kind of keeps to themself really well there own little group you've got the populars over there and the football players infront of them and the wanna be's oh the nerds and-" "And this is?" I asked glancing at the table we were at "Well I guess this is kind of the jock table" he said as I glanced down the long table at all the guys sitting next to a few cheerleaders. "So what do you play?" I asked and Chris smiled again "basketball-" "Got it" I interupted him "So what were you at your old school?" he asked and I looked up confused "You know like I guess which clique?" he asked and I glanced down "I don't think they've made a group for an outsider like me yet" I half laughed gathering my lunch trash "You no way!" Chris said half shocked and I looked at him confused "Well I mean according to schedule your not only smart but advanced in some stuff, your pretty and my guess would be you could probably kick butt at sports" he said and I smiled a little suprising myself I didn't think anyone was going to be able to make me smile here. "In other words I think that would make you very much so a insider" he said with a smile "Anyway lets go introduce you to the other girls" he said standing up and walking away towards another table before I could protest. I got up and followed him reluctantly but what else was I suppose to do? "Hey uh this is Kay she's new today" Chris said as I reached him and scanned the girls faces "Cool wanna sit with us you to Chris" one girl said and he sat down and I moved next to him... this was just wierd... "I love your shoes" one girl said from across the table and I smiled polietly trying not to show how awkward I felt...what I wouldn't do to be under the bleachers with Dean and Joe right now... "So Kay I'm having a party this weekend you wanna come?" another girl said and I glanced over at her tucking a piece of hair behind my ear. "Uh actually I'm not here on the weekends" I said and she looked at me confused "oh parents split huh?" she asked and I shook my head clearing my throat "Uh no actually my parents are ummm...well they..." the whole table was staring at me waiting for me to answer so I just spit it out "They were killed in a car accident by a drunk driver" I said and there were gasps and hands shot up to their mouths all around the table. "Oh my gosh that is horrible!" one said and I nodded avoiding eye contact with them. The bell rang and the cafeteria began to clear out and I followed Chris out in to the hallway attempting to learn my way around so I didn't need a "buddy" to show me around, my phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out seeing Joe's number. I thought I had turned my phone off but I guess it got turned on just now. Joe had sent me a text this morning and I had to say it made my day! I smiled at the screen and read it my in my mind 'thinking of you...' I smiled as I quickly typed back walking down the hallway...until I reliezed Joe was in class right now which meant I would probably make his phone go off...haven't I caused him enough trouble? I sighed closing my phone and putting it back in my pocket and followed Chris down the hallway.
