Beyond Reality - Top Chef Masters Recap 7/22/09 Chefs competing this week - Jonathan Waxman from NYC playing for Meals on Wheels. Roy Yamaguchi playing for Imua Family Services. Art Smith from Chicago playing for Common Threads. Michael Cimarusti from LA playing for the Grameen Foundation. Quickfire Challenge - Draw knives for the aisle trial. Chefs have a $20 budget and 30 mins to cook a dish from the ingredients in their assigned aisle at whole foods. Judges are Peter, Becky & Dave from Whole Foods. Scores after the quickfire - Jonathan 3 and a half stars, Roy 4 stars, Art 4 and a half stars, Michael 5 stars. Elimination challenge - Chefs draw knives again and wil have to create a mystery ingredient box for another chef. They have 45 mins and $300 at whole foods. There are 11 ingredients in each box and each chef has 2 hours to cook and must use at least 7 of those ingredients to make a dish. Judges - Gail Simmons, James Oseland and Gael Greene. Final scores - 15 stars - Roy Yamaguchi. 17 and a half stars - Michael Cimarusti. 20 stars - Jonathan Waxman. 22 stars - Art Smith wins. Next time - the top 6 master chefs compete.
