Ji-tu Cumbuka is one of Hollywood's most distinguished African American actors. Born in Montgomery Alabama, Ji-Tu attended Texas Southern University where he was a star in football, track and field.. After earning a B.A. in Theatrer and a Masters Degree in Cinematography. Ji-Tu moved to California to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He landed his first major paying gig n the movie "Uptight" directed by Jules Dassin. One of JiTu's very first roles was starring with Elvis Presley in the Kings very last movie "Change of Habit" which also starred a young Mary Tyler Moore and Barbara McNair. Ji-Tu went on to star in over thirty of Hollywoods favorite films like: "Harlem Nights" with Eddie Murphy Richard Pryor and Redd Fox "Flesh and Blood" with Denzel Washington. "Volunteers" and "Bachelor Party" with Tom Hanks. "Outrages Fortune" with Bette Midler and Shelly Long, "Brewsters Millions" with Richard Pryor and John Candy. "Fun with Dick and Jane" with Jane Fonda, George Segal and Ed Mcmahon, "Angela" with Sophia Lauren, and John Huston. "Up The Sandbox" with Barbra Streisand. "The Longest Yard" with Burt Reynolds, "Blacula" with William Marshall, and the 2 time Academy Award Oscar winner "Bound For Glory" with David Carradine and directed by the great Norman Jewison. In television Ji-Tu stared as a series regular in "Young Daniel Boone" and was costar and a series regular with former "Wild Wild West" star Robert Conrad on the ABC television series "A man Called Sloane. Ji-Tu was a recurring guest-star on "Kojak" with Telly Savalas, and recurring Guest Star on "Hunter" with Fred Dryer. Ji-Tu is especially proud to have played a major and pivotal role in Alex Hayley's epic saga "Roots". Ji-Tu is acclaimed for his TV Guest Star roles on major shows like "CSI" "The A-Team" "Knots Landing" "Ironside", "The Dukes of Hazzard" "In The Heat Of The Night" "Matlock" "Moonlighting" "MacGyver", "Murder She Wrote", "Knight Rider" "Moonlighting".
