A tutorial for western style swords (this sword being the sword I made for my Zelgadis Greywords (of Slayers) cosplay. Please check out these tutorials as well (my inspirations); Elpheal for basic blade construction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE7Gl_F1AEk JiaJem for working with clay http://www.jiajem.com/armor.html http://sgcafe.com/showthread.php?t=51842 A brief note on clays: I never had the chance to work with anything other than model magic, hearty clay, and some clay from Daiso (Japanese dollar store)...in terms of cost, sturdiness, and sand-ability the clays are as such... I diss the cheap Japanese clay in this video alot, but I'm liking it better than Model Magic, because its more workable (you can use water to blend creases and get the right shape/smoothness). Model magic is a little firmer/sturdier though. I also used Hearty Clay which is not only blendable, workable, and shapable with water, but it's also really sturdy. ( I have been told its relatively the same as Paper Clay). If you can get a hold of Hearty clay then I would buy it. It's worth the few extra bucks. NOTE! Aluminum tape can be expensive if you buy it at a regular hardware store, I have found it for a 15th of the cost a multiple dollar stores.
