MOVIE (black-and-white) Saraswatichandra (1968) of Govind Saraiya with Nutan Behl and Manish, who won a National Film Award for the best musik ("score originality" by Kalyanji-Anandji) and two Filmfare Awards Best Cinematography (Nariman Irani) & Best Dialogue Writer (S. Ali Raza). The film was based on Saraswatichandra, a Gujarati novel, written by the famous author Govardhanram Madhavram Tripathi. Story: The rich Saraswatichandra and Kumud (daughter of a neighbouring Dewan) habe been engaged to be married. Initially he is reluctant to marry because he believes in a life of social service. They have no met, but they begin a correspondance after Kumud's love letter and they fall in love. However adverse circumstances force him to leave his ancestral home, and Kumud to marry a man who was drunk and rake. She is very unhappy und she tries to commit suicide. She is rescued by the nuns ... The film has a lot of great songs, romantic duets and solos with Mukesh and Lata that truly earned the National Award for Best Music in 1968. But the song 'Chanchal Sa Badan' is a marvellous creation with a lyrical bliss, an evegreen classic and never forgettable, that tug at heart strings immediately. Mukesh solo is one of the most beautiful singing in the history of bollywood.
