A quick video of Crystal Beach around Ave I and Gulfshores area (mostly). Song: "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" by Rich O'Toole [richotoole.com] _______ story by Eric "Ichabod" Snyder: Back at the beginning of May this year Ted Borel, Travis Elliott, & I went to Crystal Beach to shoot our first music video for Rich O'Toole's song "Summertime". To say the least we had an awesome time and Ted's Grandparents were very hospitable. We all arrived on Friday night to see Rich and his band play at Yaga's on the Strand. Yaga's is one of my favorite places to go and we had a blast; rode the late night ferry back to Crystal Beach and basically tore Ted's Grandparents place up. I was fortuante enough to sleep with Rich that night in a bed filled with Oreo's and Ruffle's crumbs (fucker). Ted's Grandparents gave us everything we needed and were such wonderful hosts. They have always been so nice and fun as long as I have known them. We stayed at their beach house, not a vacation house but a home to them. They had literally every one of their personal belongings in the place. It was their home. Last night I stayed with Ted & Cathy in Houston to work on some things and Ted was playing this video to me, I was floored. I held back the tears while Cathy cried a little. I haven't seen up close what the damage was like from Ike. Of course we all saw pictures and overhead shots, I for one, just put those pictures in the back of my mind and thought everything would be OK. I mean Ted's Grandparents were such nice people that I knew bad things just couldn't happen to them. I basically forced Ted to render and upload this to Youtube. Watch this video and just let sink in the physical destruction that can be caused to us sometimes. If there ever is a couple to make it through this it is defintiely Ted's Grandparents. Ironic enough, Ted chose a Rich O'Toole song from his lastest album as the music for this video
