A Personal Tribute to The Actor's 'ACTOR' - PAUL MUNI. Born September 22, 1895, deceased August 25, 1967. One of Hollywood's most distinguished actors alternating between Broadway and Hollywood for his roles. One of only 6 actors to receive an academy award nominee for Best Actor for his first screen appearance. Only 22 films yet 5 nominations for Best Actor - it would have been 6 had his original role as Scarface been considered but it was avoided because of it's controversial violent content at the time of it's release in 1932. He did win Best Actor for 'The Story of Louis Pasteur'. He won the Tony Award in 1956 for Best Performance by a leading actor in a play for 'Inherit The Wind'. He also won the NYFCC Award Best Actor for 'The Life of Emile Zola. His performance in 'I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang in 1932 based on a true story led to a public outcry and led to the reform of the chain gang system. He was Marlon Brando's favorite actor and the man other actors would gather around to study as he rehearsed on stage. Music -David Bowie : Drive in Saturday. Please 'star' rate and comment.
