It tells a romantic story of Emperor Akbar and his wife, Jodhabai. Emperor Akbar is a Muslim while his wife is a Hindu. In this film, due to the tolerance of the Emperor Akbar, they got a harmonious marriage even though they have different religious beliefs. The director has admitted that about 70% of the movie is based on his imagination. I suspected that this romantic story of a Muslim and a Hindu might not be 100% true. However, this film has many practical implications if we think of the current political and social problems in today's India. The Caste system and the religious conflicts are roots of many social problems in India. Actually it is not a news for hatred and violence between two religions in India. In 2008, we have seen a lot of reports on the conflicts between Hindus and Christians, between Hindus and Muslims. Hence, I highly appreciate this film because it promotes the harmony between different religions. And such harmony has very important meaning to India.
