We usually play computer games in our everyday lives. There are a lot of games for the computer, but a few things are only selected by users and played... Tetris is one of the most popular games in the world. So we decided to try to make a tetris robot with LEGO NXT. Additionally our goal was to give our best try at making an A.I. robot. On the surface, it may seem like a trivial feat, but we worked hard and are proud of our final product. So let`s see.. Our device consists of two parts: one to move rows and the other to move columns. The concept is really simple--just move and place blocks in the correct location. Other people have already created similar devices such as ours, but after a lot of research on the internet we tried to realize our idea in an innovative way. As you will note, we owe a lot to our predecessors for the robot design. The algorithm, operations and design of the program are entirely fruits of our own labor. We can divide the operation into a few steps: 1. Initialize the data structure (array). 2. Initialize the PVC board. 3. Move the robot to the initial point to begin sequence. 4. Select block by using the "random" fuction using 'bricxcc'. 5. Search for an empty array and calculate whether it is possible to set block in that location. 6. Move robot to the calculated point (at this time, we use stacking structure to simulate the moving pieces like you would see on a computer screen). 7. Place the block, which is a two part function of pushing and flattening the block into place (refer to video). 8. Return to initial point. Boiled down, the algorithm is a simple process. We're not completely satisfied with the results yet, but plan to do some fine tuning from here on out. We hope you enjoy it!
