Racers will likely welcome this relaxed stage which sports 'only' a relatively short distance of 27,66 kilometres and a benign vertical gain of 1,504 meters. Runners have to take on just a single, fairly continuous climb to the summit of the Wildkogel (2,224 m asl). Yet, the 1,400 meters to the peak have to be earned one way or another and won't allow for much regeneration after the extraordinary taxing previous stage. To add insult to injury, a long, very steep descent to the stage destination Neukirchen won't be particularly lenient or helpful to weary joints and tired muscles.
