From March 1959, and found on "No One Cares"--the darkest and most mournful of Sinatra's great masterwork albums, "Just Friends" is achingly yet tragically beautiful. The depth of emotion Sinatra incredibly breathes into this recording is overwhelmingly moving. I've resisted posting this song--it simply tears (rips!) at the very heart of me. Just friends? Oh, what I would give to just be friends... Just friends Lovers no more Just friends But not like before To think of what we've been And not to kiss again Seems like pretending it isn't the ending Two friends drifting apart Two friends but one broken heart We loved, we laughed, we cried Then suddenly love died The story ends and we're just friends...
