The Debut (2000) Been 9+ years since filming ended...Time for a "refresh" on the this movie. With the help of the Chicago volunteers(myself) and all across the country promotion/advertisement/marketing teams(and traditional WORD OF MOUTH)...we wanted to show the public, "...we are not stereotyped characters as "asians" ...as a whole, but "filipinos..." A wide international distributed, small independent film from the filipino-american community, trying to showcase "less-known" america's minority, "Filipinos..." Ever seen filipinos on US widescreen theaters...or just a "movie" at all? The "national and international" tour long gone...but DVDs are out there to "re-introduce" the "filipino experience" of filipino culture "less known" to americans.. The Debut (2000)Trailer for "The Debut" Roger Ebert -Film critic "Thumbs up!!" Rent it and Enjoy! First Filipino-American produced-directed movie. A film about "identity?" ...are you "product of your environment" Are you "white/brown/black?" An award-winning English language film for the whole family, "the Debut" revolves a talented high school senior who has rejected his Filipino heritage. Challenged his sense of misplaced identity...relationships with his family, his friends, and himself.
