This was my first soft-reset shiny. And as you will see, it was a highly awesome specimen. So, it took 1836 soft-resets in front of Giratina until the shiny appeared. As usual, the shiny came when I was least expecting it, lol. 1836 resets is very lucky considering the 1 in 8192 chance, which is equivalent to 2 to the power of negative 13, ZOMG. I was even luckier that my Bold natured Synchronizer lead worked on the shiny (the chance of getting a synchronized shiny is 1 in 16384!). I chose a Bold nature as I'm going to use this Giratina as a wall with 252 EVs in HP and 252 in Defense, and the moves Dragon Pulse, Calm Mind, Rest and Sleep Talk. One attack but it's very hard to defeat, so it's a good strategy (I'm using Altered Forme, since Origin Forme is reserved for my Shiny Giratina #2 which appeared on July 4, 2009). Even better, the shiny had very nice IVs: HP - 31, Attack - 20, Defense - 19, Special Attack - 29, Special Defense - 5, Speed - 23. Epic win. One thing that other shiny-encounter videos don't do is prove it's a legitimate shiny by still filming afterwards until a normal, non-shiny wild Pokemon appears. My video shows this. It proves it's not hacked because with an Action Replay, the shiny code makes you ALWAYS encounter shinies. I had an AR but it stopped working ages ago (they are fragile). The video is in 3 main parts: 1. Lowering Giratina to 1 HP (difficult as it's a Ghost type). 2. Trying to catch it (incredibly hard but based only on luck). 3. Showing its' summary screen and the calculated IVs. BTW, I would like to thank Kakkadragon for inspiring me to keep going with my soft-resetting. He took 10 times as many SRs to get his shiny Giratina in D/P, so I'm very lucky. Also, I had to use my Master Ball or else Giratina would have used Struggle as its' 30 PP total was about to be used up. Struggle would KO itself, and I'd have lost my shiny. I had no choice. If you have any questions that aren't answered here, ask in a comment or a PM if you're shy, lol. Good luck to anyone else who is trying for a shiny Giratina. You probably won't be as lucky as me with the IVs, nature and a small number of SRs, but I'm sure you'll get it if you persist.
