Tonight the Bookcase of Wayzata will host a book release party for "Historic Lake Minnetonka," from 7 to 9 p.m. Authors Stephanie Larsen and Nancy Steinke, both Minnetonka Beach residents, will be on hand. The book provides a detailed overview of how the lake area was discovered, settled and developed. Readers can discover the fascinating history of how each bay was named and learn about the early settlers, their grand lifestyles and their incredible estates. By exploring the history of the municipalities around Lake Minnetonka's 125-mile shoreline, readers can revisit the days when there were over 60 hotels and 90 steamboats on Lake Minnetonka. The Bookcase is located at 607 E. Lake St. Tails by the Lake Saturday in Wayzata On Saturday Wayzata will be turned over to the dogs for the annual "Tails by the Lake" event. Doggy friendly activities will be held throughout town. Some of the events include a warm water dog was to benefit Homeward Bound, a dog fashion show, pet portraits and a Puppy Passport to make sure you and your dog hit up everything there is to do. Dakota Rail Trail grand opening Saturday Also don't forget about the grand opening of the Dakota Rail trail tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. At the trail's edge in Mound there will be kids activities, historic highlights of this former rail corridor and refreshments.
