Isla Roatan, Honduras http://liugarunaandvictor.com/2009/05/14/seven-days-in-western-caribbean-cruise-2008-part5/ Beach & Monkey at ISLA ROATAN, HONDURAS We were not sure what this excursion would be. We went to shore, meet the group tour and got on the mini-bus to the park. The guide tour led us, one stop at the time. She explained history of the Isla Roatan, including the nature of the flowers and trees, then took us across the wooden bridge which can only support five people at a time. Then, we stopped by the amazon birds area. There were green and red color pirrots. The zoo keeper brought the birds out of the cage to the group. He put the birds on our shoulders for picture taking. Our group took turn having the birds on our shoulders and enjoyed this very much. The last point was the most interesting when we met the little monkeys. The guide also gave us the information what to do and don't with the monkeys before went to meet the monkeys. We had to put away the big bags and be careful not to make sudden move. The monkeys would climb on our shoulders and heads while other would take many photographs. The professional photographers from Carnival were there taking many pictures also. After awhile, the tour ended, and we have time to walk around the park and go to the beach. We watched some people gone snorkelling and diving. The kids also have a chance having their hair braided like the caribbean girls. Once back on the cruise ship, we noticed many little girls with braided hair also. We went back to the cruise ship with big smile and good time.
