A wounded Iraq war veteran won his lawsuit Friday in federal court against the United States Army. The suit claimed that the U.S. Army discriminated against former U.S. Army Sgt. James McKelvey while he worked for the Army. McKelvey lost his right hand in Iraq when a roadside bomb exploded in 2004. As a result of the bombing, McKelvey also suffers from other permanent physical impairments. McKelvey claims his co-workers made fun of him and according to the suit, referred to him as a "crip," "cripple," "crippled," "Captain Hook," and "lefty." Friday a federal jury ruled in favor of McKelvey and awarded him $4.388 million.
