A performance of the experimental work Tempus Arcanum, by TMU at Metropolitan Coffee in Hutchinson, Kansas, November 8, 2008. This composition uses the cut-up method. Each measure of the piece is written on individual cards, which are shuffled and dealt to the players. Other cards contain additional performance instructions. Each card also indicates how many times that card should be played. The players are instructed to interpret the cards on a drum, a metallophone, and a tuned percussion instrument. The only constant is a time keeper, in this case conga. From left to right, the Mechanics are Mike Fell, Wayne Farley, Chris Mayer, and Bryan McChesney (just off cam, you mostly see his feet!). Many thanks to all the folks at the Metro. See them at www.metrocoffehutch.com
