Bernadette Peters reads her book "Broadway Barks" at Books Inc. in San Francisco on Saturday, July 26th, 2008. Apologies for both the shakiness of the footage - I was excited, can you blame me? - and the fact that it's in two halves. It was filmed with a still photo camera that allows three-minute video recordings as well, so I made do with what I had. The first line (that I missed) is "I used to be called Douglas." "Broadway Barks" was inspired by the annual star-studded animal adoption event of the same name, which benefits animal shelters throughout the New York City area and was co-founded by Bernadette and Mary Tyler Moore. All author royalties from this book are donated to Broadway Barks.
