The international community paid particularly close attention to Obama's presidential campaign and the election of 2008. During his first year in office, he has grappled with pressing global issues. In the meantime, a half-brother of U.S. president Barrack Obama made a rare appearance in southern China, his home for the past seven years, to launch a novel drawing on his painful childhood under an abusive father. Mark Okoth Obama Ndesandjo -- who had the same, late, father as the U.S. President -- has kept a low public profile since reports surfaced last year that he was living and working in the southern Chinese capitalist and manufacturing haven of Shenzhen.
